FTC Nazi's to Regulate Blogging

Of course, this is for our own good. People should not be allowed to just say and read whatever they want. There have to be limits. The FTC is just making sure us common folk do not hurt ourselves. And do not ever think that the government would use these regulatory powers for their own benefit or to target anti-state blogs or political enemies. They are public servants, not a gang of thieves. It is not like they threaten us with violence and steal half our income or anything... oh wait...

Karen De Coste is more cynical in a post at Lew Rockwell's site:

[Regulation of blogs], of course, is a maneuver the government has long sought so it can effectively turn off the uncontrollable competition to benefit its favored participants in the corporate state. Alternative free media, and especially the community spontaneity of blogging, is a huge problem for government and its favored business alliances that benefit from laws, regulation, barriers to entry, etc.
