Barr Slips on Fannie and Freddie

Barr is the only major candidate in this race providing a liberty message for America. He appears to be at least 90% in line with true libertarianism and he is friends with Ron Paul. This is why I will vote for Bob Barr. 

However, his appearance yesterday morning on Fox News was worrisome. On national television, he had a chance to condemn government intervention and stand up for the taxpayer. He didn't. He supported giving Fannie and Freddie a temporary line of credit just like McBama. It is clear that Barr has very little understanding of Austrian economics and the inherent fallacies associated with the US economy. Saving Fannie and Freddie just puts off the pain for later. It re-inflates the bubble for an even more painful and inevitable bust. Worst of all, it is paid for by US citizens who have nothing to do with it and just want the government to leave them alone. 

For these reasons, it becomes more and more apparent that the US government will never restore our liberties through conventional democratic means. Throughout US history, government has grown more powerful, not less. There are too many government institutions, agencies, bureaucrats, and departments to be brought down. The government is too powerful and it is unlikely that a strict interpretation of the Constitution will ever become common practice again. Liberty, as our founders envisioned, will never be restored under the US flag. There are no more statesmen left.

The great Virginian champion of the people, Patrick Henry foresaw our abusive government from centuries away:

"When the American spirit was in its youth, the language of America was different: liberty, sir, was then the primary object. … But now, sir, the American spirit, assisted by the ropes and chains of consolidation, is about to convert this country into a powerful and mighty empire. If you make the citizens of this country agree to become the subjects of one great, consolidated empire of America, your government will not have sufficient energy to keep them together. Such a government is incompatible with the genius of republicanism. There will be no checks, no real balances, in this government."
